Halloween Haunting 101: Let’s Have Another Scream

Oh, these awkward pauses in between posts has to end!

I do have legit excuses though. We went through that terrible hurricane by the name of Irma two weeks ago (direct hit!), and we went 11 days without power! I have always been thankful for modern luxuries but good god do you become a cult-like follower of electricity when you’ve gone without for so long!

Regardless! I’m back and have some fun stuff to share!

First of all, I’ve confirmed that I will be reviving the ancient Seado tradition of the annual Halloween SoireΓ©. We are having a KILLER PARTY this year!

As you know, I try to incorporate a theme for our parties every year. This time I went for a not so blatant Halloween theme and instead opted to celebrate traditional Slasher cinema.

This year’s party theme is a celebration of the classic horror slasher genre. The invite announcement above I designed to look like an 80’s/90’s horror film poster. I’m a huge fan of a good Teen Scream and I thought this would be the perfect revival for our tradition!

I also set up a video invite and a website for potential guests to go to! Check it out!

There’s a few details I will keep a secret for now as they’re a part of the twists and turns I’m putting together for my unsuspecting guests. πŸ™‚ But! Favors and DIY projects are already on my plate for this coming week! I’ll walk through some awesome ideas for decor and guest presents next weekend!

What’s your big plan for Halloween this year? Party? Trip? Tell me all about it!Β

Until next time!

Nefarious News: R.L. Stine & Fox Producing 3 “Fear Street” Movies

That fucking headline says it all!

Can you tell i’m excited? πŸ™‚

I heard the news last night via the Twitter grapevine.

This moment was so long overdue! My sister and I have been pondering the greatest question in life for years: “Why the fuck haven’t they made a ‘Fear Street’ movie?!”, and finally it’s come to be. Three times over!

My reaction was of course subtle.

Screen Shot 2017-07-18 at 8.56.21 AM.png

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is being written and directed by Leigh Janiak, the director of the indie horror flickΒ Honeymoon. Apparently the idea was in the works some time ago as there was a script written… somewhere… catching dust. Needless to say, Fox is going full force with the project now and in a big way. The studio is demanding that all three of the films be completed by Janiak back to back, with release dates in the span of a few months of each other.

This is a pretty hefty job if Fox is insistent on that time table.

But, details are sure to change as this project is lifted off the ground. The movies are still in pre-production and anything could happen in these early stages! I just hope that these aren’t cranked out without any regard for the quality.

I mean, this is Fear Street we’re talking about.

Now my biggest question is what three books they’re going to be choosing for the films. I have a sneaking suspicion it’s going to be one of the trilogies…

Maybe Cheerleaders?

Maybe the Saga books?

Who knows! Even though those trilogies spanned into the realm of “sagas” after a while, It’s still a definite possibility. I can’t fucking wait for more details to emerge! πŸ™‚

So, tell me: Are you excited to see a Fear Street movie? Which books were your faves and which do you hope they’ll adapt? Also, who should be the main players??

Until next time!

‘It’s a Scream, Baby!’

So! I’ll be alone this weekend and I planned to test the sin factor a little.

☺️ Tomorrow I’ll be hosting this:

Seems fitting under the circumstances…

I don’t plan to have too many people over at all, but I still made up this awesome Scream drinking game!Β

This is guaranteed to get you wasted. πŸ˜πŸ‘πŸ» Best not to be on the lam from any psycho killers while playing! ☺️πŸ”ͺ

Save it and partake in your own Scream Saturday!Β

Send me your photos of such debauchery and I’ll feature them here on Vespertine House! πŸ˜€πŸ’œ

What’re you guys up to this weekend? What’s your fave quote/scene from Scream?

Friday Night Frights: Splatter Movies & Babysitting

That headline pretty much sums up my night.☺️

I spent the evening babysitting my two nephews once again, because I really don’t have a bustling social life in general.😁

The littlest slept, the other went about his business watching videos in his room.☺️

I had the run of the living room, and thus watched a series of wonderful slashers.

I Know What You Did Last Summer

Halloween: H20

And last, but definitely not least,

What I love about the latter two films is how many great nods to Kev Williamsons other works there is. Many subtle parallels in H20 especially. I love it. πŸ’œ

With that said, I have to admit that I’m a huge fan of just about everything  Williamson has had a hand in.

Yes, including The Vampire Diaries (although not my absolute favorite of his repertoire).

He’s responsible for my love of horror as it all began with Scream 2 and The Faculty when I was just a niblet. πŸ’œ

So, I have to ask, who’s your fave screenwriter, producer and/or director? Who’s work in film has had the biggest impact on your taste in film? Leave your thoughts in the comments- I’m dying to know.😏πŸ”ͺ

As for now, this impromptu babysitter is going to drink and watch whatever slasher I can paw at first from my collection.☺️πŸ”ͺ

Friday Night Frights: Slash Bash ‘R.S.V.P.’

I hope everyone is having a wonderful evening!

It’s Friday once again!πŸŽ‰

I for one am babysitting my lovable little nephews, and while the littlest sleeps through the night, the older one let me paint his face and is doing his own thing now after voluntarily taking a bath and getting ready for bed!πŸ˜ƒ

Piece of pie!β˜ΊοΈπŸ‘πŸ»

So, he’s up at 12.30 AM and eating cookies… Whatever, he’s alive. β˜ΊοΈπŸ‘πŸ»I’ve got a good handle on this babysitting thing for real. πŸ˜‚

Anyways, I sifted through all the films on Xfinity On Demand and found this interesting gem.

I really think this movie is more of a dark comedy than a slice ’em up slasher. But it’s not terrible so far. Lots of weed, Jason Mewes and the late but great Glen Quinn. 😌

Then again I absolutely love 90’s-early 2000’s teen screams and slashers. ☺️ it’s my favorite horror film era. Lots of film and horror snobs scoff at that but I don’t care. There’s such a lovely nostalgia inherent in the films. And they’re usually so cheesy and wonderful. I love it! 😏πŸ”ͺ

So, what are you doing tonight? And the rest of this weekend? ☺️
